...Kardashian Debt Kard Update

Well it seems as if that too has passed. The Kardashain Kard is no more. The girls were getting a lot of heat for attaching themselves to a card that charges you before you use it.

"Just to buy the card and use it costs $59.95 for six months, or $99.95 for 12 months. That does not include any money on the card. The person buying the card must add money onto it.
The initial feels were just the start. After those six or 12 months are up, it costs $7.95 a month to keep using the card. Users have to pay $1.50 to withdraw cash from an ATM, and $1 to check their balance. Talking to a customer representative on the phone costs $1.50 for each call, and canceling the card costs $6.
Losing the card results in a charge of $9.95. If the loss is reported within two days, then losses are limited to $50. But if the loss or theft is not reported, and the issuer believes the user knew it was lost or stolen, then losses could be as high as $500, according to the terms and conditions on the Kardashian Kard website."

A lawyer for the Kardashians asked that their name and likeness be removed. Apparently thee have worked hard on their images, minus the sex tapes and random acts of stupidity, and they did not want them to be damaged. Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal called the card "predatory" and ordered an investigation. Since the time the card was released earlier this month all financial advisers and consumer agencies warned people not to buy this card. Finally less than a month later the card is gone. This just goes to prove more of my point that the Kardashians are grand opportunist and are all about themselves. Money and fame over anything else. So of course it is not hard for me to give this 2 Digits Down, even if it is dead.

Mark Wilbur - CEO - Employers Group/Incoming Chair BizFed
Mr. Wilbur joined Employers Group in March 2007 as the youngest CEO in the association’s 112-year history and is a founding member of BizFed. Prior to USC, Mark was a Partner in Business Consulting at Arthur Andersen, developing solutions for clients across the U.S., Asia and Europe.

David Fleming - Founding Chair BizFed

In 2009, he, along with former California Governor Pete Wilson, served as co-chairs of the Southern California Leadership Council.

...The 83rd Academy Awards

Although the show does not air until February 27th 2011, I am already not liking them so far. Why? Because they have announced the two host as James Franco and Anne Hathaway. I am okay with the fact that there is a chance that they both may be nominated for Oscar's, Franco more so, but I am not okay with the fact that this is a blatant act to try to attracted younger viewers to the show. Why do you need younger viewers? No matter what the show will air! It is an institution, a classic, Hollywood loves this and it will never go away! I want funny host, not two people Hollywood tells me I should like because they are "young" and "talented" and "hot". I see none of that, my standards are much higher than that. I can only imagine the faux sexual tension they will have to play out on stage and the jokes that will fall flat and so on. Last year's two host Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were very funny and had actual chemistry and comedic timing. Even on SNL Franco and Hathaway seems a little out of their element and forced. I will still watch, the clothes and the upsets attract me, but I will not be pleased with those two host. I am not sure which will be worst, these two hosting or the Black Eyed Peas at the Super Bowl. I am giving the Academy a Digit Down.

...Leslie Nielsen

About two months ago I was on Wikipedia and I decided to look up one of my favorite actors, Leslie Nielsen. His back story was awesome. I had no clue he was abused as a child by his father. I also did not know he was deaf. Today I found out that he was dead, and I must say that I am truly saddened. He died at the age of 84 due to complications from pneumonia.

As I child I grew up watching Naked Gun movies and to this day I still think they are some of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I watch them pretty much every time they are on and I still enjoy them very much. He has been making movie and T.V. shows for 60 years. Starting with series acting roles, he eventually moved into funny roles, roles that made him a legend. I know that I am not the only one who will miss him. I must admit that two months ago when I looked him up I was just making sure he was still alive. That is how I felt every time I saw him in a new movie or on a show, I was just happy to know that he was still alive. All good things must come to an end, but I am glad he left us with such great memories and laughs galore. Leslie Nielsen...you get 2 Digits Up.

...Willie Nelson

Well well well once again it seems as if legendary country singer Willie Nelson has been arrested for marijuana possession. He pulled his bus in at a checkpoint in Texas and the officers smelled marijuana. After searching the buss they found 6 ounces of marijuana on the bus. Willie claimed it as his and was arrested. He was later released after posting $2,500 in bail. This is not unusual. It was have almost been stranger if he did not have marijuana with him. He is a known advocate of the legalization of marijuana nationwide and he has a history with the drug. You almost just think, ''eh" and want to let him go. But the law is the law and I understand the arrest. I for one am not a fan of any illegal drug and would never approve of the legalization of marijuana, just for the record. In the end I have to give Willie Nelson a Digit Down for being 77 years old and still not willing to give up the dope. I guess you cannot teach an old dog new tricks...

...Auburn and Cam Newton

Today I watched an awesome, beyond awesome college football game. Auburn vs. Alabama in the "Iron Bowl". It looked like Alabama was going to beat Auburn soundly, but things just did not work out that in the end. I sat and watched Cam Newton lead Auburn back from a 24-0 deficit to win this game 28-27! It was an exciting game full of ups and downs. With all of the drama surrounding Auburn and especially Cam Newton over the past month it seemed as if the pressure had finally gotten to him. Alabama's defense overpowered Auburn leaving them with 0 first downs and 2 yards of offense for the first 2 quarters. Auburn's defense stepped up stripping Alabama of the ball, keeping them from gaining yards and sacking Alabama's QB. After seeing this great performance I am ready to let Auburn walk away with the BCS Championship and hand the Heisman Trophy over to Cam Newton, even if he has it taken away 5 years from now...maybe. I am sure they will beat Oregon easily, maybe not, but I will most definitely be rooting for Auburn. I am giving Auburn and Cam Newton 2 Digits Up. I was not a fan before, but now I am.

...Black Friday

So it is Black Friday. In 4 hours some stores will open, in 5 hours some more will open and by 6AM all of the stores will be open. As I think about it I get a little happy and a little suspicious. Black Friday does not bring the best deals, it could all end up being a big joke...if you think about it. It is however the busiest shopping day of the year, although some would say the Saturday before Christmas is, debatable. I want to go shopping and I plan on it, but I have nothing to shop for. Toys R Us started their big sale at 10PM Thanksgiving day, that was easy to get to. I do not mind standing in line and pushing down men, women and children for a laptop or television or gaming system that is marked down to a reasonably low price, but I feel as if their will be better sales in December. If I have to I will even wait until after Christmas or New Year's to buy what I want...WANT. Still you must enjoy the start of the shopping season, it is rather exciting. I am giving this unofficial holiday, Black Friday, a Digit Up. It may put some of us in debt but it will put the retailers in the black.

Jeanie Buss-Laker Girl

Laker Girl

Jeanie Buss – Lakers’ Executive Vice President of Business Operations, franchise mainstay and daughter of team owner Jerry Buss – just released Laker Girl, the never-before-told story of the Buss family and of one woman’s rise to the top in a man’s world. It is also a behind-the-scenes journal of the 2009–10 Lakers season, a year in which the franchise captured its 16th world championship.

One of the most influential women in professional sports, Jeanie’s business accomplishments only begin to tell the tale of her incredible journey. In true Hollywood fashion, Jeanie eventually found love where she least expected: with Phil Jackson, the Lakers’ head coach and one of the most successful coaches in NBA history. Along the way, she’s rubbed elbows with everyone from Michael Jordan, John McEnroe, and Shaquille O’Neal to Khloe Kardashian, Hugh Hefner, and Jack Nicholson. And she’s done it all in her own unique, inimitable style.

...Kanye West

Poor Kanye West. The guy has had a rough two years. His mother died, his engagement fell apart and of course the whole Taylor Swift thing. Kanye went on a rant about Taylor Swift and Matt Lauer, but he left President W. Bush out of it, that beef is over for sure. While I understand what he was saying and I agree with it, he waited so late to bring it up and it just makes him look worse and adds to his "whiny" persona. Kanye might need some serious therapy, and there is no shame in that. He puts a lot of pressure on himself, more than he probably actually needs to. I would say maybe he needs an extended vacation, but maybe just a regular non-working vacation will do. I am not a huge fan of rap or hip-hop but Kanye is like at the top or towards the top of my list of favorites so I really do hope he gets everything together. Maybe he just needs to get everything off of his chest at once and that will be that. For now though I have to give him a Digit Down because I think something is just not coming together for him, despite his career success. Also it was just way too late to bring it up in that type of forum, he had a chance and he should have taken it and taken the heat for it then, with Matt Lauer.

...Blake Lively

People love Blake Lively. Ever since Gossip Girl aired people have been obsessed with her. They call her beautiful and the "IT" girl of fashion and so on. I on the other hand, as usual, have gone against the trends and have never really thought much of her. That is until today when it was reported that she bought 40 pairs of Louboutins at a sample sale, shoes that she might have gotten for free. She said she bought them for family and friends and of course for herself. Now the fact that she bought them was very Oprah like of her. But what made me smile was the number, 40, 40 pairs of shoes! Even if they are for family and friends, along with herself, that is still an impressive number of shoes to buy. Ranging from $500 to $2,000 you can only imagine that bill. So am I a fan now? No, I still think she is a tad overrated. Do I love her taste in shoes and the fact that she boughत४०प airs of them? Beyond YES. That is why I am giving her a Digit Up.

...The Minnesota Vikings

Well the Minnesota Vikings finally fired their head coach Brad Childress less than a year after he took them to the NFC Championship game. After a horrible 31-3 loss to Green Bay Sunday the owner just said eh and fired him. Of course there were a lot of other things such as their 3-7 record this season, the waiving of Randy Moss without the owner's knowledge, the grumblings of other players saying they had no respect or trust for him. When the cards are stacked against you like that, not much else you can do. What will happen to the Vikings now? Their season is over, unless somehow they win the last 6...DREAMS. People are wondering how long Brett Favre will last as the starting quarterback or if he will even finish the season. The Vikings are obviously a huge bust this season and no one could have thought it would be this bad for them. I do not see Favre returning, although I would love to see him play until the age of 43, but with everything that has happened to him on and off the field....yeah. Next season may just be their comeback season, especially if Rice is healthy and all of the other players, the main players, are giving 110%. I am going to give the Minnesota Vikings a Digit Down for this season. It is just a great disappointment.

...Wendy's Fries

So I finally tried the new fries at Wendy's. They were EXCELLENT! I do like fries. I should not, but potatoes are my thing, I was raised on them, mashed, they were my baby food because I did not like baby food so mashed potatoes it was. These fries had a little crunch, from the skin that they leave on and from the sea salt. The are like long versions of the waffle fries Chick-Fil-A has. If you have not tried them, go for it, you will enjoy them as well. I am giving these fries a Digit Up.

...Bristol Palin's PSA

Bristol Palin may be stirring up controversy on "Dancing with the Stars" just be not being eliminated week after week, which I do not mind, but she has not forget her other job, besides being a mother of course. In a new commercials featuring Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino the two talk about abstinence and safe sex. From the start I though the PSA was totally awkward. Bristol seems uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time...hard to explain. I think that both of them had an awkward chemistry. While the message was good, the delivery was shotty at best. You be the judge.

See what I mean? This was comical, not informative in my eyes. Maybe next time you guys. I am giving this a Digit Down.

...Weddings

I love them. The cake, the people. the colors (usually). One of my best friends Chelsea just got married to a man named Adam. I loved it all. It was better than I thought. I love weddings and as i am writing this I can still hear them going strong so I must go and finish with them. Two Digits Up for this.

...Ochocinco

It seems like Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson is ready to get married. He recently proposed to a woman who was on a VH1 reality show. The problem I have is that it was not his show, the show he had where he was looking for "love". He is engaged to Evelyn Lozada, the star of the show "Basketball Wives". It does not surprise me that they are engaged, I am not sure how much they have in common, they have only been dating for 4 months, but I am sure they have known each other for much longer. I wonder if she will be on the show when, if, it returns. I say if because it should be on now, but the boring "Football Wives" spin off is on now, yawn. I am giving them a Digit Up thought because all in all if I had to pick a black and white yes or no to whether or not I liked them both, it would be a solid yes.

11/19-Bill Cosby, Scott St. James

Bill Cosby-Actor and Comedian
Will be talking about his Las Vegas appearance.

Charlie Chaplin. Groucho Marx. Richard Pryor.
Over the past century, few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of William H. Cosby Jr. His successes span five decades and virtually all media, remarkable accomplishments for a kid who emerged from humble beginnings in a Philly project.
In the 1960s, his stand-up act was a coast-to-coast sensation, spawning a string of hilarious, best-selling comedy albums, which went on to win eight Gold Records, five Platinum records and five Grammy Awards. His role on TV’s I Spy made him the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series, breaking television’s racial barrier and winning three Emmy Awards. In the 1980s, he again rocked the television world with the The Cosby Show, a gentle, whimsical and hugely successful series that single-handedly revived the family sitcom (and rescued NBC).
With hit movies like Uptown Saturday Night and best-selling books like Fatherhood, Bill Cosby is quite simply a national treasure with the unique ability to touch people’s hearts.

Scott St. James began his acting career with a role in Heart Of A Champion: The Ray Mancini Story. Since then, he has appeared in dozens of motion pictures and TV series including Everybody Loves Raymond, ER and Jimmy Kimmel Live! His national television commercial credits include roles for American Express, Pepsi and Honda Motor Company. A true renaissance man, Scott began his career as an award-winning radio personality, enjoying tremendous success at stations all across the country, including St. Louis powerhouse KMOX and KMPC and KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, working with legendary personalities Robert W. Morgan and Rick Dees. Along the way he picked up multiple Golden Mike and Mark Twain Awards for commentary writing. His daily morning commentaries on Arrow 93FM covered a broad spectrum of topics from sports to entertainment to politics, and over a period of nine years, raised an eyebrow or two. In the 80’s, Scott was also the on-camera Sports Director at LA’s KCAL-TV, Channel 9. Contact Scott St. James via e-mail: scottstjames@sbcglobal.net

...House Democrats

Somehow Nancy Pelosi is still in power, this time as Minority Leader for the Democrats in the House with a 150-46 vote. I know she has some sort of power and control over those around her, but this was just a bad move. I do believe that when the Republicans gained control of the House it was a good move, sort of, and that they would be able to sit down with the President and force him to compromise and they would be able to argue but eventually work out deals. Now with Nancy back no one is going to do anything. This is what Nancy wanted. It will get Obama re-elected because they will be able to blame the Republicans for blocking everything the President wanted to pass, but the real culprit will be Nancy. Just look at this remark she gave reporters after she was elected Let me put that in perspective. How would your ratings be if $75 million were spent against you?" she said, referring to the television ad campaigns of Republican candidates and allied groups. "Because I'm an effective leader, because we got the job done on healthcare and Wall Street reform and consumer protections, the list goes on. Because they know that I’m the person who can attract the resources, both intellectual and otherwise, to take us to victory because I have done it before." For some reason I have just never been a fan of hers. She seems to have some sort of alteior motive that no one but Nancy knows. I am not ready to see what sort of mayhem lies ahead for the new Congress next year. I must give this move 2 Digits Down.

...Reconciliation

The parents of two of the music world's biggest stars are getting back together y'all! Britney Spears and Beyonce's parents are reconciling, for now.

Lynn and Jamie Spears are reconciling 8 years after their divorce in 2002. They have been spotted together in Los Angeles several times looking rather cozy. Friends of the pair say that they are not remarried, but they are happy and getting to know one another again. Maybe their daughter's crazy and then saner stages helped bring them back together, awwww.

On the other side of the charts it seems as if Beyonce's parents are calling off their divorce. Mathew and Tina Knowles missed their court date for their divorce in Texas so the judge dismissed the case. This could be a sign that they are getting back together. I am sure at least 1 of them could have shown up or at least a lawyer. They have been married for 30 years, but Mathew cheated on Tina with a much younger woman and got her pregnant, Beyonce now has a little brother I am sure she will never meet unless he becomes some sort of entertainer.

I would like to think that both couples are just realizing how much they missed each other and are back together out of love. The truth is they are both old and no one is going to want them for them. They are country people and others will use them for their fortune and fame and try to claim it as their own, an that is even before they meet their children. Also Christmas is coming up and it is starting to get cold and no one wants to sleep alone when it is cold, and extra gifts are nice as well. Wither way I am giving these reconciliations a Digit Up.

11/16 - Julie Chen, Mark Wilbur, David Fleming,

Julie Chen - CBS ("The Talk"; "Big Brother")
Chen is the leading host of a talk show on CBS titled The Talk, along with a panel of four other moms. Along with Chen, the panel includes Sharon Osbourne, Sara Gilbert, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur. The show is similar to The View  Julie Suzanne Chen (born January 6, 1970) is an American television personality, news anchor, and producer for CBS.[1] She has 15 years of newscasting experience. She is best known for co-anchoring CBS's The Early Show, alongside Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez. She has been the host of the U.S. version of Big Brother since its debut in July 2000. She is currently the starring co-host of the CBS daytime series, The Talk, which features a panel of five hosts, discussing controversial maternal topics and contemporary issues. The Talk premiered on October 18, 2010. Julie Chen has been host of "The Early Show" since October 2002. Throughout that time she has covered many of the biggest news stories, including the war in Iraq, and reported for the program during the war from Kuwait and Qatar in March 2003. Chen spends her summers doing double duty between hosting "The Early Show" and "Big Brother," which began its 12th season on the Network in July 2010. Before joining CBS News, Chen worked as a reporter for WDTN-TV Dayton (1995-97).

Mark Wilbur-CEO Employers/Incoming BizFed Chair for 2011
David Fleming, BizFed Founding Chair
BizFed recently went on a tour of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta - and saw the crumbling/aging infrastructure, the environmental issues, the vulnerability to earthquakes, the sinking farmland, etc. That area provides nearly 40 percent of SoCAL drinking water - without it, we're in bad, bad shape.  NOW, with the new Legislature - a big push will be crafting a new bond for the 2012 ballot (since the last one was pulled off the Nov ballot). And there is lots of work to be done to educate, inform lawmakers/all and then execute on proposed measures to both protect the enviro up there AND the economy through keeping water flowing down here.  There ALSO now is a proposal for TUNNELS to carry water down to SoCal. THIS is being considered because of all the dustup previously over "peripheral canals" - and all the opposition that has derailed that.

...Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton is in a movie filmed in Bangkok, Thailand! It is not a porn though. If you have not heard well here you go. Former President Bill Clinton will be in the new movie, "The Hangover 2", yes this is true. He filmed his scene Saturday and I can only imagine what he did. Not much is reported about the scene or anything. We do know that he will be playing himself, what a stretch, and that is basically it. I think that if there were to add Monica Lewinsky into this movie and then I am sure they will have a hit, trust me I know movies. This movie already had a lot of press about it from the time they announced that it was going to be mode and even more after they added and then dropped Mel Gibson from the movie in a cameo. Bill has nothing to gain or lose, this will just add to his legacy of cool in America and around the world. I am giving Bill a Digit Up of course. Why? Because he gave me one first.

11/15 - Bill Smitrovich ,

Bill Smitrovich  - NBC's  "The Event"
Bill Smitrovich stars as Vice President Raymond Jarvis, the steely but tactful right hand to President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood), in NBC's new high-octane thriller The Event. Born in Connecticut, Smitrovich began his professional acting career with Arthur Miller in the world premiere of Miller's "The American Clock" at the Spoleto Festival. After obtaining a Master of Fine Arts degree from Smith College in 1976, the former University of Massachusetts acting teacher earned his first big break in a "baptism of fire" appearance as understudy for the lead role (and all male roles) in the world premiere of "The American Clock" at Spoleto. Subsequently, Smitrovich and the production went on to Broadway, where it ran a record 13 performances. Stage parts followed off-Broadway and in the Hong Kong (International Arts Festival) Actors Theatre of Louisville's production of "Of Mice and Men." ...Jessica Simpson

Take that Nick Lachey...is probably what Jessica Simpson is REALLY thinking now. Why? Well just a week, about a week, after her ex announced that he was engaged to long term gal pal Vanessa Minillo, Jessica's reps are confirming that she too is engaged to boyfriend, former NFL player, Eric Johnson. Jessica took some heat for dating Eric because he was not yet divorced from his wife when he was spotted dating Jessica. The divorce has since been filed, in January, and made official, last month, so the two can move on and start their happy lives on marriage number 2. I do see them probably lasting longer than Nick and Vanessa, but who knows really. I wonder who will have the bigger better wedding? It should be Jessica, that seems to be her thing, no matter what her down home country accent may lead us to think. Most likely the tabloids will be all over both weddings but again Jessica's will probably get more coverage, because she's active and more relevant than Nick, he has no fashion line or cosmetic line. Either way both are getting married and all that jazz but no matter what we will always think Jessica got the last laugh. Also this totally sucks and gives hope for Jennifer Aniston. Jessica dated John Mayer once, and now she's getting married.Yay Jennifer, hope for you to start marriage number 2 as well. Digit Up to Jessica Simpson.

...Cindy McCain

Cindy McCain is putting her LesiDo, lesbian hair-do, to use and speaking out against the things her husband, Senator John McCain, and most of his fellow Republican party members believe in and attacking those who attack gay issues. She and other stars are in a new video, I assume commercial on LOGO, and they are a little pissed.

I am sure that John knew about this. This is not the 1st time Cindy has spoken out in support of the gays. Her daughter joined her fora NOH8 campaign earlier this year. I understand what she is doing and I know that many appreciate it. If John is okay with is then so am I. Digit Up Cindy McCain.

...Chinese Workers

In 6 days, less than a week, Chinese workers built a 15-story hotel. Yet again this is just a sign of how lazy we are in America, I guess. The building may have been prefabricated, but still 6 days is fast! Extreme Home Makeover is known for their fast homes, but it takes them a week and help from locals, locals who do not know how to build things. Also this building can stand an earthquake with a magnitude of 9! I would like to see that put to the test. They worked day and night, something that Americans, including myself, hate to do. Check out the video below.

I wonder if they can make war machines as fast, if not faster. This should be monitored just in case something major breaks out after the G-20 Summit or 20 years from now, that makes more sense. Although they could get pissed and call in their debts, we would be so screwed. Any who I am giving this a Digit Up just because it looks fake but it is not and it just shows us what we are stepping in the ring with.
