Tracy Morgan has had a lot of bad press recently. We all heard about his "hateful" comments about gays he made while doing stand-up in Nashville earlier this month. He apologized and people pretty much got over it. Now he is being thrust back into the news for more bad press. He made some more politically incorrect statements while doing stand-up in New York City over the weekend. He said, "Don't ever mess with women who have retarded kids. Them young retarded males is strong. They're strong like chimps." Ouch Tracy, ouch. I wonder how he will apologize himself out of this one... Now personally I do not care about anything he says. He is a comedian, a controversial ann an edgy comedian at that. He is no different from previous comedians before him: Eddie Murphy, Red Fox, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Kathy Griffin, and this list could go on for ages. Why is Tracy getting so much flack? We, as a nation, are too sensitive, we are too touchy feely and of course we are too politically correct! It is a joke, if you do not find it funny then that is you. If you go to one of his shows then you know what to expect, and if you do not know what to expect, then do not go! Freedom of speech allows anyone to say anything, most of the time, and we may not like it, but that is what separates us from many other countries. I believe that people are confusing Tracy Morgan with the character he plays on "30 Rock". Before that show, before SNL, he was and edgy comedian from the hood. He should not have to change his formula, because in the right arenas, his formula still works. However I am going to give Tracy Morgan a Digit Down because he id something that I do not lie at all, he apologized. He apologized after the touchy feely gays and gay friendly community came down on him hard after his Nashville show. Now he may have to go through this whole 
process again, and ever get an earful from Sarah Palin. You said what you said and it should have ended there. If other did not like it, so be it.
Can someone tell me why there were reruns on this week? I turn to ABC yesterday looking for some new episodes of "The Middle" and "Modern Family" but I find reruns. Today I turn to NBC looking for new episodes of "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" but I found reruns. Why? Is America Idol that big of a ratings draw that it causes other networks to show reruns? CBS had new shows Thursday. I would like to think that everyone is saving their good stuff for sweeps later this Spring. I know that we set our clocks forward one hour this Sunday, does that have anything to do with it? Doubt it. Now I am left with reality shows, which are new, and college basketball, which is not so bad. I still would have loved to have watched some good scripted comedy but I guess I can always go
on Hulu and watch...reruns. Digit Down.
When you think of Meryl Streep I bet the 1st thing you think of is comedy queen right? Well she is. Apparently over the last 5 years her comedy movies have racked in 1.3 billion. Mamma Mia earned $610 million worldwide alone, it was also her biggest hit. The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia and It's Complicated also helped her with that major total. She beat out Sarah Jessica Parker with $916 million earned, Katherine Heigl with $773 million earned, although I do not know how that happened at all, Cameron Diaz with $768 million earned adn finally Anne Hathaway with $727 million earned, maybe some of that was thanks to Streep's role in The Devil Wears Prada... I find it hard not to like Streep. I have not tried, but I could not if I wanted to. She is a great actress and seems like a wonderful person. She
is Hollywood gold, a true A-List celebrity in a field of wannabes. I am giving Meryl a Digit up.
I love television, always have, probably always will. But lately I have noticed something that I should have noticed a long time ago, television shows are all the same, and by that I mean genre. Most television shows are drama, comedy, reality. That is OK, nothing wrong with that. But the problem is there is no real variety. Most dramatic television shows are all cops shows or medical shows. The new T.V. season is almost upon us and most of the new and returning shows are cop shows and medical shows, woohoo. Just to name a few there will be all of the Law and Orders, all of the CSI's, Hawaii Five-O, Gray's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Hawthorne and others, I do not really watch them so I cannot name a lot of them. I do not watch them because after the 1st few dozen times, you sort of always know what is going to happen. A big accident sends a ton of people to the E.R. and the doctors scramble to get to all of the victims. A body is found in the forest and no one saw who killed her. All of these 
events get solved within the hour, or sometimes if they need a ratings boost, 2 hours, that equals 2 weeks. I am over it. I need more variety, more originality. Hollywood is on a creative hiatus, and that is not cool. I am giving the television industry a Digit Down. Look out movies you are are next.
