...Tracy Morgan

Tracy Morgan has had a lot of bad press recently. We all heard about his "hateful" comments about gays he made while doing stand-up in Nashville earlier this month. He apologized and people pretty much got over it. Now he is being thrust back into the news for more bad press. He made some more politically incorrect statements while doing stand-up in New York City over the weekend. He said, "Don't ever mess with women who have retarded kids. Them young retarded males is strong. They're strong like chimps." Ouch Tracy, ouch. I wonder how he will apologize himself out of this one... Now personally I do not care about anything he says. He is a comedian, a controversial ann an edgy comedian at that. He is no different from previous comedians before him: Eddie Murphy, Red Fox, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Kathy Griffin, and this list could go on for ages. Why is Tracy getting so much flack? We, as a nation, are too sensitive, we are too touchy feely and of course we are too politically correct! It is a joke, if you do not find it funny then that is you. If you go to one of his shows then you know what to expect, and if you do not know what to expect, then do not go! Freedom of speech allows anyone to say anything, most of the time, and we may not like it, but that is what separates us from many other countries. I believe that people are confusing Tracy Morgan with the character he plays on "30 Rock". Before that show, before SNL, he was and edgy comedian from the hood. He should not have to change his formula, because in the right arenas, his formula still works. However I am going to give Tracy Morgan a Digit Down because he id something that I do not lie at all, he apologized. He apologized after the touchy feely gays and gay friendly community came down on him hard after his Nashville show. Now he may have to go through this whole process again, and ever get an earful from Sarah Palin. You said what you said and it should have ended there. If other did not like it, so be it.

...Elton John

Elton John, or Sir Elton John, hosted Saturday Night Live last night and he was not so bad. Basically he was better than Miley Cyrus, though that is not hard to do. He made fun of himself and he confirmed that Lady Gaga was the godmother of his new son. Tom Hanks even joined in for a couple of skits along with Carmelo Anthony, what an interesting combo. Of course there were gay jokes. Actually there were a lot of gay jokes which bordered on the line of offense and unoriginal. But of course what else were they going to do and Elton was okay with them so eh. All in all Elton did just well enough to receive a Digit Up.

...SNL

You may think I am late, but I have a reason. I watched Saturday Night Live live Saturday, and then I watched it again Sunday. My conclusion stayed the same, not funny at all! The host was Miley Cyrus. I could tell from the opening monologue that it was going to be a rough show. She was not funny, she sang, and the crowd did not seem into it.

There was only 1 funny skit, and it was only funny compared to the rest.

She talked about her salvia use and her missteps over the years but it was so vague and boring. For the 2nd weekend in a row young people have messed up some a traditional show. James Franco and Anne Hathaway at the Academy Awards and now Miley Cyrus at SNL. Ultimately the blame is placed on SNL tough because why would they pick her to host? She does not have a movie coming out, her salvia thing is old, and her parents divorce was announced months ago. Basically no one cares about Miley right now. I sadly have to give SNL a Digit Down for fudging things up this weekend.

...Jim Carrey

So a month ago I talked about Jim Carrey breaking up his daughter's marriage. But that was then and this is now. No I am not going to talk about how Jim is begging his ex Jenny McCarthy to take him back as she consoles his daughter on the collapse of her marriage, due to Jim. No, this is a good post, all about Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live. Here are just 2 clips of what he did, they were SO funny:

If you did not catch the show go to NBC.com and watch the full show online. It will be worth it. You will see why I am millions of people still love this guy. I am glad to know that he is still fresh and current and is not losing his funny like so many other past comedians. I guess they are still comedians, but not what they once were. Anyway I am giving Jim Carrey a Digit Up.

...Fred Armisen and Elisabeth Moss

I love Fred Armisen on Saturday Night Live, so it was odd to hear that he and his wife Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men were getting a divorce after less than a year of marriage. In fact they have been separated since June. The reason for the divorce, some say, is the fact that her religion means more to her than her marriage. Elisabeth is a Scientologist and it seems that Fred could not go along with it. Apparently though he has moved on and she has moved on and both are okay with it. He moved on to his co-star Abby Elliot. Fred must like them young because although he is 45, his soon to be ex-wife is 28 and his current fling is 23. I do not see anything wrong with the divorce, it happens, and although Scientology is seen as strange to some, it is a religion and I will not criticize someone else's beliefs. I would however like to say that they should have thought this out before they got married! Pre-marital counseling anyone? I have no clue why they did not think to talk about these types of issues extensively before they got married, but they did not and now they are getting divorced. I am giving them a Digit Down for not planning ahead properly and communicating before they got married.
