...Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston is back, at least for now. Last year there was talk about her voice going away, being damaged beyond repair from years of drug abuse. So were even speculating that she had relapsed and was back on drugs. Well It seemed as if she might be back. A the "Celebration Of Gospel" which will air again on BET Thursday at 8PM EST, she surprised the audience with a duet with her friend Kim Burrell. Of course her voice will never be like what it was in the 80's and 90's, but that might have faded due to age anyway, although Barbra Streisand is older and still great. Anyway, I think this was great for her and for us to witness. No one whats her to fail and no matter what we want her to rise again to be a top singer and we want her to stay there until the end. I am just glad that we have good current memories of her. Digit Up to Whitney.

...The Game

So last night was the season premiere of "Teen Mom, but I did not watch it. Instead I tuned into the newly revived show 'The Game". Apparently I was not alone because it was watched by 7.7 million people, giving BET its 2nd highest ratings ever. The show was on the CW networks but was cancelled in 2009. No other network showed interest in the show and the cast flew in and held a lot of meetings with BET. Finally they green lighted it and the show moved form L.A. to Atlanta and they were brought back. For those who do not know what they show is about click here and read. I enjoyed the show on the CW and it is actually even better on BET, I will admit that. I cannot wait to watch what happens next, the drama is great. It is one of the rare shows that was cancelled and brought back to life. I also wished Girlfriends would have been picked up somewhere else, along with Ugly Betty, but oh well. I am giving The Game a Digit Up.

...MTV Town Hall

I applaud the President for his willingness to include young Americans in the political process and for listening to their voices with real concern. However I do not understand the purpose of the MTV Town Hall that took place. It could have been pretty good, but it was only an hour long. It was full of your typical rhetoric and whatnot, but some of the questions were good and made you think. A lot of questions were Tweeted in, but few were read. Bullying, bipartisanship, the economy, education and gay rights were all talked about. This event took over 3 channels, MTV, BET and CMT. I think it hit every teen demographic possible, minus those who may be into C-Span or the Biography channel. Yet while there were good talking points, it did feel a tad like an election rally, although he did not mention anything of the sort, which brings me back to why. Why was this held now, on this date, at that time. Okay the time makes sense, but still why? I have yet to hear why or figure out why, it does not frustrate me but it makes me wonder...why hahaha. I am going to give this a Digit Up just this once because I think it probably made those young Americans there feel as if they were being listened too...important even, and that is always a plus.
