I was watching some television, as always, and I heard about a study that said men who spend more than 2 hours nurturing their children have less testosterone than men who do not. So basically men with children are less manly than those without. Ha! As I watched The View the women were totally against this and called the study basically a bunch of bull crap. While they may disagree, it is pretty true. I heave heard this before and this is nothing too new, just more proof of it. I do not understand why they find this hard to believe, women are the same way, especially women who have kids. They become more maternal and when they hear babies carrying they just cannot help their emotional reaction to it. That is a totally different thing though. I want to talk more about men. I think that men have fallen down a lot lately, and by lately I mean the past 30-40 years. There was a time when men were the head of their families, they had all of the answers and no decision was made without dad's approval. Then there was women's liberation and more women moving into the work place and gaining higher positions and something just wen t downhill for men. Men went from being seen as strong leaders to bumbling idiots that who had about as much maturity as a 12 year old boy. I would like to blame this on Hollywood for making shows and movies that uphold this idea( The Hangover, Knocked Up, Jackass, Harold and Kumar) and more women writing for television shows, but they cannot totally be blamed for it. I would like to blame parents who coddle their children and never let their children, boys, grow up to become men. Instead they cover up for them and clean up all of their messes and never let them...become men. Then there are the single mothers who run households and maybe bitter about it. It is hard for women to raise boys. Those boys become men and women are not men. Some single mothers are bitter about their situation and spew hateful things about the men they have encountered in their life which can have a negative effect on their children, just as talking negative about your job can make your children grow up resenting wanting to work. What does this study have to do with anything... Well I know the modern liberated woman can do it all, except produce sperm to have a baby, but I think this study is important because it, along with the modern media's interpretation of the idiot male, is doing a lot more damage than most may think. I think that it is giving an excuse for men to act like idiots and not take responsibility because it is becoming acceptable for men to act like that. Women rule the house, since when? If a man cannot have a say in the way his household is run, then do not expect him to be much of a man. Playing video games, buying comic books, etc., is this what a man is? Sense when? I thin we all nee to look deeper into the social issues that are causing these current events or "trends" in men and women. I know that I am rambling but if you read it and re-read it you may fully understand what I am trying to say. Men take back your place 
as the head, become more than just a walk joke. Women, you are strong and can do many things but if you want a rel man don't treat him like a boy, expect him to be a man and respect him as a man. I am giving men 2 Digits Down for letting things get this bad.
Veteran women's rights campaigner Gloria Steinem calling for a boycott of the new NBC show The Playboy Club. For those who do not know who she is, look her up. She worked as a bunny at a Playboy Club back in the 60's and then wrote a scathing expose about the working conditions of the women there. "Clearly 'The Playboy Club' is not going to be accurate. It was the tackiest place on earth. It was not glamorous at all. When I was working there and writing the expose, one of the things they had to change because of my expose was that they required all the Bunnies, who were just waitresses, to have an internal exam and a test for venereal disease. I expect that 'The Playboy Club' will be a net minus and I hope people boycott it. It's just not telling the truth about the era." She also added that she thinks the show Mad Men show
s the realism of women and men in the 60's. I understand why she is saying this, but she did not have to say anything. I have a good feeling that this show will fail on its own without a boycott. Still I am giving her a Digit Up for taking a stand against something she believes in.
Well it seems as if the recession has done a lot of things to this country. One of them has been stalling the abortion rate. Since 1990 the U.S. abortions rate has been falling every year, but apparently since 2008 the rate has been stalled at 1.21 million abortions in at a rate of 19.6 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44. Many families thought it would be easier to abort a child rather than raise it, kids are rather expensive you know. I am pro choice so I can understand their decision and I am okay with it. I think that also, with a big MAYBE, a shows such as "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" might have helped stall the abortion rate as well. Young girls and guys can now see how tough it is to have a baby and to raise it in what will most likely become a single parent family and they decide that is not the life for me. Of course there are those who would advocate abstinence, but in order for that to work you would have to kill their hormones and that is not happening. So do I give this move a Digit Up or Down? I am giving it a Digit Up because it shows some responsibility and maturity. Let us not assume that a lot of these women are single, some could have been married women. Let us be thankful that there is not another child coming into this world being born into what could be a broken home. And for my fellow Republicans, let us be thankful that those kids
are not adding to the national debt because now those women will not have to apply for WIC and or food stamps and other government assisted programs. I am giving it a Digit Up.
We are still in a recession and there are still millions of people without jobs. Despite all of that there is a constant trend that i would say is growing. There are more women with jobs than men. Why? Well maybe it also has to do with the fact that there are more women in college than men. With so many companies looking for highly educated workers, that gives women an edge. This is benefiting them as well. Not only are there more women working, but the wage gap is shrinking because of it. It use to be that women earned 71 cents per every one dollar a man earned, but now it is 83 cents per every dollar a man earns. Minority women are also seeing more work and better wages, while on the other hand minority men are seeing less work and shrinking wages. This is a plus an a minus. Will it last? Possibly, but this reminds me of World War 2 when the men were off to war and the women had factory jobs, but when the men came home the women returned back to the home to do their domestic duties. Now this is 2010 and the recession will probably end around...2014, although I thought they technically said the recession was over already... Their words not mine. This is good for 
women though and it can only go up from here, maybe, we will see what happens when more men return to work. As for college, that is totally different. College is expensive and it is school and most guys, although they want to succeed and be successful, they do not want to put in the time and effort. Beyond that the short-term gain of a paycheck looks and feels better than the long-term gain that college could offer. College is not a guaranteed success for everyone and yes there are millions who have made it without going to college, but it is growing very difficult to do that these days and I can only imagine how much more difficult it will be in the future. Can you see McDonald's asking you to have a college degree in hospitality to flip burgers? Still women are on top at the moment and for that I will give them a Digit Up.
