...Poverty

Sadly, but obviously, it seems as if poverty is on the rise in America. With the economy still on its roller coaster, and jobs nowhere to be found, this should not really be surprising. This is more of a political issue. The Dems will blame Bush and the Reps will blame Obama. Elections are 7 weeks away and votes are needed for both sides. The number of people expected to fall into poverty this year will be the highest levels seen since the 1960's, from 13.2% to 15% or 45 million people of working-age. Child poverty increased from 19 percent to more than 20 percent. Blacks and Latinos were disproportionately hit, based on their higher rates of unemployment. Metropolitan areas that posted the largest gains in poverty included Modesto, Calif.; Detroit; Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Fla.; Los Angeles and Las Vegas. We need need need more jobs and more opportunity out there A.S.A.P. but how? Everyone thinks they have the answer, but this is a problem that will need multiple solutions because there is definitely more than one problem. Honestly we need to put the politics aside and get this country back on track before everything hits the fan hard, and then the fan stops working. Stimulus packages that put money into the hands of people that spend it on things that no one can see is not the answer, arguing about who is to blame is not the answer, and making false promises to get elected is not the answer. Does anyone have the answer? No. No one does, and no one will. This is all trail and error, if it works we take the credit, if it fails we blame the other guys. I am giving this news 2 Digits Down.
